What’s a NAM model? NAM stands for “New Approach Methodologies” and covers cell based organoids as well as in silico methods of getting better prediction of human biology. In VivoSim’s labs, we take human cells and create a section of human living organ in the lab, such as a microliver or a microintestine tissue.
What do we do with these sections of liver, intestine, and other organs? We use them to help partners create better drugs. We help people avoid liver toxicity that happens up to 5% of the time with newly launched drugs. We help partners pick a drug that is less likely to cause a cancer patient diarrhea or nausea, and allow them to take a higher dose more likely to destroy the cancer cells.
92% of drugs tested only in animals fail in final stages of human clinical testing. VivoSim is pointing to a new way.
